History of the Yorkie Poo

As a breed, the Yorkie Poo's history is short. Generally breeders try to breed a generation of Yorkie Poo's from purebred Poodle and Yorkshire Terrier parents. This capitalizes on something called "hybrid vigor" and the Heterosis effect which results in a healthier dog, with less chance for genetic diseases.

Heterosis is the occurence of superior genetic offspring from crossing two inbred lines.
